Welcome!
I would like to welcome you to my blog! I sincerely hope that I do not bore you... because... well... that would be boring. I've been thinking of creating a blog for some time now, and I have finally decided to do it! I do not know how often I will be writing, but I hope you will find some encouragement from reading my posts.
I would like to begin with explaining the title of my blog; Reflection. As we stepped into the New Year, 2014, my pastor encouraged each individual to pick one word. This one word would be our focus for the year. It would help us become more like Christ. I decided that my word would be reflection. Originally I thought, “Yeah! Reflection is a good word! I can write in my journal and reflect on each day… this will be GREAT! I love writing in journals, so this will be the perfect excuse to write!” But as I read and prayed more about what word to choose, I realized that the reflection meant so much more than that.
1 Peter 5: 6-10
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experience by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”
WE are reflections of CHRIST. He has created us to reflect Him. As believers we have the privilege to know God on a personal level. He has called us to His eternal glory! The more we get to know Him, the more He tests us, the more we grow through trials, the better we reflect Him in our lives. God will PERFECT, ESTABLISH, STRENGTHEN, and SETTLE you through all those trials. God cares for you. He wants what is best for you; He wants us to be a reflection of Him. We need to stay as close to Him as possible to resist temptation and the lies of this world. We become His reflection by focusing on Him; reading His word and praying.
I want to be that reflection of Christ. I want people to be able to say “Something’s different about her, what is it?” I want people to know I have Christ in me though the way I act; without ever having to use the word “Christian.”
This blog will help me evaluate how my reflection of Christ is! So as you read my blog, please do not feel like I am telling you I have it all right and you have it all wrong. This will hopefully be a positive reflection of what God is teaching me this year. A lot of the things I write about will probably be the things I am struggling with!
Thanks for reading! If you have any comments or questions please let me know :)
Lots of Love,
Hannah
